Party like a Bridesmaid
When you hear the word “shower”, you picture a total snoozefest with tea sandwiches and iced tea. Well, YES, you will encounter those, but for the most part, showers are fun! I would expect to attend 1-2 showers per wedding (sometimes it will be more like 3-4), and as a bridesmaid, you should host one.
The word “host” has a few different meanings. As a host, you can plan and pay for the whole thing, be in charge of just the food, be in charge of the invites, or simply bring a check to the party. At the end of the day, its all about the benjamins. And plan on that - about $100 per shower (MINIMUM).
Lets chat about the different themes for showers. Depending on your bride, you will be involved in couples or gals only shower. Here are a few of our fave themes:
COUPLE SHOWERS
- Stock the bar - yeah, bring them a bottle for their bar, drink one for yourself. This is a top pick!
- Kitchen/Grill shower - Guys LOVE grilling, ladies love Le Cruset - perfect combo!
LADIES ONLY
Lingerie shower - Depending on the crowd, you might want to leave mom, grandma and mother in law at home. This is a great shower for the bachelorette shower!
Linens shower - Bedding, towels, and more! This CAN be a couples shower, but we think that a good thread count is more appreciated by the ladies.
There are literally 1,000,000 themes, and this was a quick look. Of course you dont HAVE to have a theme - you can just plan a rager. While you plan, always remember - go along with the plan and fire up Venmo...it’s not about you!
