The Dreaded Dress
Every bride dreams of the perfect day - the perfect guy, the perfect dress, the perfect guest list, the perfect pictures, the perfect everything! HOWEVER...their idea of the “perfect” bridesmaid dress might not be the same as yours. Pink chiffon, Blue silk, champagne taffeta, strapless, short, two-piece...the list goes on and on and on and on. No matter the combination, there is a 90% chance you will NOT like the dress and a 95% chance you will never wear it again. Let’s not tell the bride that - because deep down, she knows - let’s smile and nod. After all, what do we say a bridesmaid? “It’s not about you!”
Although there are millions of bridesmaid options, we have boiled it down to two types of bridesmaid dresses: Matchy Matchy and Free For All.
Matchy Matchy
We all know it and have worn it. Head to toe, you and the other 3-10 people are like Siamese twins. Same dress, same shoes, same jewelry...oh my. You will be hard to miss at the reception, so keep that in mind when you have that last “splash” of sav blanc.
It’s like 101 Dalmations and Cruella is the bride. She keeps her pups in line. (and we all do this behind her back…)
A little less anal, yet still completely type-A, a chill matchy matchy bride will pick a fabric and you pick a style. I want all of my bridesmaids to wear pink chiffon Amsale - pick your style. It’s like Hunger Games. Get your style and put it in fast.
Some brides limit the number of gals in certain styles. Don’t get caught watching the paint dry. (yes - we may love everything bridesmaids, but we still love Hoosiers)
And we have all seen them - the convertible dress. The same exact dress worn like 1,000,000 different ways. For this one, we can almost “money back guarantee” that you will get the “You can TOTALLY wear this again” chat...don’t fall for it. Just buy the dress and move on.
Free for All
Although this may seem soooo much cooler, sometimes the free for all freaks people out. Grass is always greener. This goes down like this - the theme is neutrals...GO. The theme is blue...GO. BUUUUUUUUUUT make sure you email me pics of the dress and I can okay it. No matter how you slice it - a bride is a bride.

And the mac-daddy of all laid back, mis-matched bridesmaids goes to……..
End of the day, a dress is a dress. The big day is about your friend and whatever amazing or terrible theme she has in mind. Always remember - It’s not about you.
